EYFS/KS1 Apprentice Teaching Assistant – available to start 4th September 2024

Apprentice Grade (Council rate) £9.18ph in the first year.

After the first year of apprenticeship the rate will then be in line with the national minimum wage for age.

Hours: 32.5 hours per week – term time only

Contract type: Temporary for 24 Months (pending assessment of candidate)

Cavendish Close Infant and Nursery School wishes to appoint an Apprentice Teaching Assistant from September 2024, who will work closely with the Headteacher to support children across the school, including our most vulnerable children, some of whom may have a social worker. This is a unique role to the school, and we are looking for someone who has an understanding of the challenges that vulnerable children may face.

The successful candidate will be passionate about improving the lives and outcomes for all children. They will be capable of building strong relationships with both staff and pupils and will actively promote and support the values, vision and ethos of our school, remaining positive and proactive at all times.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of our happy, dedicated and hard-working Teaching Assistant team at Cavendish Close Infant & Nursery School.  We have excellent staff who will lead and support you to become an excellent practitioner in teaching and learning throughout the EYFS/KS1 age range. 

We are looking to appoint a creative, enthusiastic, hardworking and resilient Apprentice EYFS/KS1 Teaching Assistant who:


·         Enjoys working with young children and wants to start their Teaching Assistant career in our successful Infant & Nursery School.

·         Has a nurturing, caring attitude towards our very youngest and most vulnerable children.

·         Understands the importance of play in the Early Years/KS1 and is eager to learn about the best ways to support play.

·         Understands the need to keep our children safe at all times and is aware of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security and confidentiality.

·         Is able to work under the direct instruction of an EYFS/KS1 teacher/senior staff member, to support learning for pupils.

·         Is aware of the diversity of our pupils and can ensure all have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.

·         Participates enthusiastically in training and other learning activities as required.

It is essential that all applicants meet the eligibility criteria of having GCSE Maths and English at Grade C / 4 or above, evidence of this will be required at interview.
